What's it about?
The output and versatility of Mira Lu Kovacs are otherworldly. Since 2013, one or two albums by the multi-award-winning singer, singer-songwriter, and composer are released each year, plus numerous collaborations: as the mastermind of the trio 'Schmieds Puls', as the voice of the avant-garde supergroup '5K HD', on guitar with the grunge pop breakthrough band 'My Ugly Clementine', with Clemens Wenger in a 10-piece ensemble, and as part of the cover duo SAD SONGS TO CRY TO, as a sound corporate designer for the Vienna Belvedere Museum, as a theater musician (most recently DIE GRÖßERE HOFFNUNG), and more. Mira Lu Kovacs seamlessly switches roles across a broad spectrum between pop, high culture, experimental, and electronic music. In 2021, the exceptional musician released her first album explicitly under her own name, WHAT ELSE CAN BREAK. In 2024, she followed with the second album titled PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF. Virtuosity and magic with instrument and voice are countered by sometimes intensely direct storytelling; the courage to push the existing pop appeal into the future with a certain quirkiness, combined with confident presence and a clear message: Mira Lu Kovacs has established a substantial presence in the memory of music-interested audiences with her recordings, on and off stage.
