What's it about?

The universal fascination with the music of this 20-member female choir dates back to their sensational first success in 1987. Since then, the choir has performed concerts around the world, including at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo and on Red Square during the 850th anniversary of the city of Moscow. The singers have delighted millions of listeners with their surprising, enchanting, and incredibly precise singing – singing that touches the soul deeply. Their music has been released on 13 recordings to date. Every region of Bulgaria has its own rare singing style. For every event in the active and festive life of the Bulgarian people, for every ritual conducted in harmony with the seasons and agricultural calendar, there are songs and melodies. One of the most archaic styles can be found in some villages in the Pirin region in southwestern Bulgaria – this unique style has been included in UNESCO's 'Living Human Treasures' program. On their current tour, The Bulgarian Voices Angelite present a mix of traditional songs from the Balkan regions and the new CD with Orthodox songs from the early Middle Ages. Few can resist the magic and fascination of these songs!
