The Ellmau Museum "Beim Wegmacher" showcases village life and Tyrolean contemporary history. Originally a miner's house from the 16th century, it later served various craftsmen, including a wheelwright, master weaver, and road builder. In 1898, the house was rebuilt by Johann Widauer and has remained unchanged since then. The rooms are furnished true to the original and, together with the tools and everyday objects, display the tradition and customs of bygone eras. The museum is also known from numerous film recordings.
