Traditional Tuifllauf

What's it about?

On December 5th, Fulpmes is once again seized by wild magic when the Traditional Tuifllauf, Stubaier dialect for Devil's Run, takes place at the Kirchplatz Fulpmes. The festivities begin at 7:00 PM, when the bars around the square open their doors to visitors. The evening starts excitingly, as at 8:00 PM, the Jungtuifl, the young devils, take the scene and create a mystical atmosphere. Shortly after, Nikolaus appears with his entourage, accompanied by the Tuifln, who cause quite a stir. Nikolaus has small gifts for well-behaved children and brings joy to their faces. The Tuifl is the eerie companion figure of Nikolaus, and both are among the most important Advent customs in the Alpine region. If you are in the area, you should not miss this Tuifllauf. The highlight of the evening is the large Tuifllauf, considered one of the most spectacular and wildest in all of North Tyrol, at the Kirchplatz of Fulpmes. The Tuifl, in their impressive costumes and frightening masks, put on an impressive show that fascinates spectators anew each year. The burning torches, rhythmic bell ringing, and wild performances of the Tuifl create a unique atmosphere that must be experienced. Getting there and parking: Traveling to Fulpmes can be conveniently done by car or bus. However, those arriving by car should note that only a limited number of parking spaces are available in the town. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to plan your journey by bus. There are numerous bus connections, and the bus takes visitors directly to the center of Fulpmes, eliminating parking worries. This way, you can enjoy the event to the fullest and return home safely.
