Der Lauser

What's it about?

On a farm, there's always something going on – especially when not only daily work but also love causes plenty of commotion. In the rural comedy "Der Lauser" by Hans Dengel, secret crushes, jealousy, and misunderstandings come together and turn the seemingly peaceful farm life upside down. Starting at the end of October 2026, the Volksbühne Mils, directed by Bettina Hilber, will bring this entertaining play to the stage, ensuring a lively theater evening filled with humor, turbulent entanglements, and top entertainment. About the play: On the farm of the widowed well builder, the resolute housekeeper Liesl rules the roost. She not only has the house and farm firmly under control but also causes a stir in the men's world. Several gentlemen have their eyes on her – each with their own intentions. But that's not all: even the youngest farm son, Peter, suddenly discovers his interest in the opposite sex and lives up to his reputation as "Der Lauser" (the rascal). Soon, secret approaches, jealousy, and misunderstandings unfold. The more each tries to pursue their romantic intentions, the greater the chaos. Secret meetings and unexpected encounters eventually cause the events to escalate – and some find themselves in situations that were completely different from what was planned. Look forward to an entertaining theater evening with "Der Lauser," a rural farce full of situational comedy, turbulent entanglements, and witty encounters, guaranteed to make your laughter muscles work.
