What's it about?
That the waltz-drunk "Duidu, Duidu" and its relaxed counterpart "Dudidubidu" are actually only a short hop, not much more than "a warm embracing dance away" from each other — this has been clear to the masters of Mnozil Brass for a long time. For over thirty years, the seven virtuosos have been effortlessly moving between Johann Strauss and Frank Sinatra, between Shostakovich and Prince, or passionately from Schubert to their kindred spirits from Queen, with their sparkling brass instruments. The sacred grandeur of one side matters as little to them as the supposed banality of the other. But Strauss — whom both Brahms, Wagner, and Verdi, as well as craftsmen and girls from the suburbs (and even Gershwin) revered passionately — he was the pioneer of the nonchalant flirtation between the stools. Strauss was the first to produce hits meter after meter, he hired an arranger to work faster, and he understood that with his brothers he could reproduce his sound worldwide. He was the first to break the rules of the E and U and became a mass phenomenon as the Waltz King — never did the cash registers ring sweeter. In Strau$$, Mnozil Brass now reveal everything about Strauss. Even the last thing. In the end, there is nothing left but the naked truth. A project commissioned by Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna.
