Der Sturm oder La Isla Bonita
What's it about?
At La Isla Bonita, Ariel and Caliban carefully tend to their deck chairs and the tourists lying on them. Everyone knows: the guest is king! – including long-term guest Prospero, an older gentleman for whom Ariel happily and willingly re-enacts characters from Shakespeare's play The Tempest, and Caliban, of course, also loves to play the role of an indigenous savage. Whether longing for exotic summer love, exclusive access to untouched nature, or all-you-can-drink, here it is always: Very gladly, madam! Calixto María Schmutter is not only completing her directing studies with this production, but after several works at German city and state theaters, she is also making her first stop at an Austrian regional theater. Schmutter's works combine a deeply dramatic-theatrical approach with elements of pop and kitsch, narration and imagery, music, sound, and a love for broad-reaching yet complex artistic experiences.
