Klangspuren 2026 - A Wave and Waves
What's it about?
A Wave and Waves Michael Pisaro-Liu's A Wave and Waves thrives on barely audible micro-events: seeds on glass, sandpaper on stone, tearing paper, a soft brush on the tam-tam. 100 percussion instruments, 100 performers together form a paradox: from barely audible individual actions, a total sound grows, condensing into a continuous wave movement - an ocean of small noises. Pisaro-Liu himself calls it: "confounding the small and the large." The structure makes this audible: a single, 35-minute sound arc - followed by four minutes of silence - and finally a hundred small waves that travel through the ensemble. The audience sits in the middle of it, surrounded by sound instead of facing it. Speak Percussion realizes the work together with the Innsbruck Music School - a polyphonic collective that carries this last evening of the festival. "Love is Louder" does not end here as a slogan, but as an experience: in shared listening to what one otherwise overlooks.
