
The Pfitscher Joch is a gentle pass between the Zillertal and Pfitscher Tal in South Tyrol. Countless migratory birds also use this route when they fly to their winter quarters in the south in autumn. For several years, a research team has been operating a small observation station at the Joch. After a "gentle landing" in the stretched nets, migratory birds are identified, examined, and ringed before they continue their journey south. On the way to the Joch, many exciting stories await us, for example about smuggling between Austria and Italy or about the Stone Age. Even back then, people discovered and used the landscape around the Joch plateau. The exciting exhibition "pfitscherjoch grenzenlos" at the Lavitzalm also addresses this and more. After a comfortable stop at the Pfitscher Joch-Haus, we hike back to the Schlegeis Reservoir.
