Exhibition "In the Spell of the Großglockner"

What's it about?

200 years after the first ascent of the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain, the Glocknerhaus in Kals was inaugurated in 2000 with the exhibition "In the Spell of the Großglockner". Witnesses from long past times tell of the first people who ventured into the most remote valleys of the Eastern Alps over 4000 years ago. A stone axe, animal bones from prehistoric cult sites, and silver coins from Roman times are combined with informative texts and video productions. In the second room, there is a walk-on map and a representation of the fantastic natural area around the Glocknerdorf. Marmots, wallcreepers, and the ibex, so representative of this Kals mountain world, as well as other animals and plants of the high mountains are presented.
