What's it about?

28-year-old Gregor Storf from Vorarlberg is considered a great, multi-talented young hope of Austrian jazz. As a tenor saxophonist, he impressed – nominated by the Ö1 Jazz editorial team – in May 2025 as part of the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Ljubljana. His skill as a drummer is equally valued, and Storf also possesses well-developed knowledge as a pianist. His quintet "Partners in Time" stands for an ensemble whose music has grown from many years of shared experience. Saxophonist and composer Gregor Storf, rooted in Vorarlberg and active internationally from an early age, brings together musicians who have developed a common language over the years. Storf has been playing with Philipp Zarfl on double bass and Urs Hager on piano for a long time; Chris Parker on drums has been a formative musical companion for many years. The quintet is completed by trumpeter Max Wintersperger, whose mature musical voice, despite his youth, adds additional depth to the ensemble. This band sees itself as a place where Gregor Storf's own compositions grow, change, and find their form in the moment. The focus is on interaction: attentive, open, and supported by a deep connection to the jazz tradition. This creates music that springs vividly from the moment and at the same time seems timeless.
