What's it about?

The Jakobiprangtag in Tamsweg is a traditional folk festival with deep-rooted religious and cultural origins in Lungau. Named after Saint James, the patron saint of Tamsweg Parish Church, this annual festival impressively combines faith, custom, and community. The day begins at 6:30 AM with a solemn riflemen's mass, before the parish service takes place at 8:30 AM, followed by a festive procession. Prangtage (traditional procession days) are among the oldest living traditions of Lungau and are recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Magnificent traditional costumes, riflemen's formations, and religious symbols characterize the appearance of this special event, which attracts believers and those interested in culture from the entire region and beyond.
