Sinner and seductress, abandoned and scorned, guilty and poisoner – the figure of the lover appears throughout literary history. Elena Schwarz highlights her in bright red and brings famous female monologues out of their dramatic context. Gretchen's desperate plea, Ophelia's madness – they are connected with poems, ballads, and Bible passages to create a liturgically exuberant evening on red velvet. Elena Schwarz is accompanied by musician Maksim Franke. Together they explore pleasure and loss, brush over guilt like silk, and open wounds that smell sweet. An evening between confession and the ecstatic urge to balance as close to the abyss as possible. The Mesnerhaus provides the perfect setting for this special evening.
