National Park Exhibition "Erlebnis Zirbe"

What's it about?

St. Jakob i. D., which boasts the largest contiguous stone pine forest in the Eastern Alps with the Oberhauser Zirbenwald, literally allows visitors to breathe a sigh of relief thanks to its alpine healing climate. The very slow-growing stone pine can live up to 1,000 years, reach a diameter of up to two meters, and a height of just over 20 meters. Special schnapps and liqueurs are made from its cones. Woodcarvers in the region almost exclusively use the soft stone pine wood for their artworks. Visitors can learn this and much more about the pine family tree in the free exhibition "Erlebnis Zirbe" in the Handelshaus, in the center of St. Jakob i. D..
