What's it about?

Something's brewing! Hallein and beer – that's a long and varied love story. Already in the early modern period, Hallein was a brewing stronghold. A remarkable eleven commercially licensed breweries existed in the Hallein urban area in the 18th century. Today, the Hofbräu Kaltenhausen, founded in 1475, still commemorates this golden age of brewing. Recently, many new, young beers have joined the scene. On the "Hopfen und Malz" (Hops and Malt) tour, we visit Hallein gastronomic establishments and taste beers together with a beer sommelier. The tour is garnished with stories and anecdotes about Hallein and the golden barley juice.
