What's it about?

As in her first solo album "Brothers" (nominated for the Amadeus Award and the German Record Critics' Award 2022), released in 2021, cellist Sophie Abraham's personal experiences are the starting point for the compositions on her second solo album "The Beauty In Between". With her instrument, she explores uncharted paths along silent and healing explosions that gently break musical boundaries and stereotypes and expand musical genres. The result is a compelling plea for the relevance of an in-between. "The Beauty In Between" is an ode to the power of in-between spaces, the infinite facets of the androgynous and the undefinable. Sophie Abraham's music is at once a musical, personal, and socio-political statement for the beauty of diversity – beyond fronts, borders, and exclusions. ••••• SOPHIE ABRAHAM cello, voice, composition, lyrics Born in Groningen (Netherlands), cellist Sophie Abraham composes, interprets, and improvises with great pleasure across musical-creative boundaries: between classical music, contemporary compositions, and experimental soundscapes. She studied concert performance at the KUG Graz with Prof. R. Leopold and at the MDW Vienna with Prof. R. Latzko. She continues to learn in the radio.string.quartet, in the Trio Frühstück, in her solo programs, and in ensembles with Julia Lacherstorfer, Thomas Gansch, Manu Delago, Lukas Kranzelbinder, Christian Bakanic, Yvonne Moriel, Dhafer Youssef, among others.
