What's it about?

What a contrast: Where Kreisky's penultimate album, "Blitz" (2018), rethought the traditionally snotty band sound in the direction of pop, and the last, the almost optimistic coming-of-age record "Atlantis" (2021) with its brightly colored cover celebrated youth and naivety, the band now offers us with "Adieu Unsterblichkeit" a decidedly dark collection of songs. From the pre-released "Was ist das für eine Welt" from the TV crime scene of the same name (in which the band also appeared) to the cannibal torch song "Fressen" and the bike lane road movie "Die Pedale", which ends in two minutes of monolithic power, these songs depict moments of bitter realization, dark secrets, epiphanies of evil, tipping points into wickedness. "Adieu Unsterblichkeit" is a journey into the heart of darkness and thus, if you will, cathartic music for a fucked-up time. Once again, it's exciting how Kreisky combines sharpened art-rock, existential fervor, and verbal toxicity in such an overwhelming way that they replace Sunday mass for the secular music lover. A novelty on "Adieu Unsterblichkeit" is how quickly and emphatically the band can change registers. Thus, in the title track, which oscillates between melancholy and self-pity, twisted pop abstraction and ruthless ecstasy stand back to back, "Geh mir aus der Sonne" switches from math rock to flowery sixties wallpaper and back again, and "Was ist das für eine Welt" changes gears several times over its eight krautrock minutes anyway. The Kreisky mass is celebrated in the classic rock line-up: drums (loud: Klaus Mitter), bass (also loud: Helmuth Brossmann), guitar (very loud: Martin Max Offenhuber), vocals (not at all quiet: Franz Adrian Wenzl). And that – even after twenty years of band history – with all the necessary and appropriate ruckus. Kreisky 2025, that is a unique and irreplaceable band at the peak of their art. www.kreisky.net ••••• ADMISSION Online ticket € 28.00* | € 19.60** Box office € 30.00* | € 21.00** FREE SEATING ADMISSION from approx. 7:30 PM ONLINE TICKET bookable until 18.09.2026 | 7:00 PM BOX OFFICE opens 1 hour before the event starts NO REFUND for tickets already purchased 3-TICKET CARD is valid for only 1 ticket per event ••••• *Possible discounts on the normal price: -10% for Ö1-Club & Ö1-Intro members (also applies to one accompanying person), Kulturpass "Hunger auf Kunst & Kultur" **The reduced admission price applies to: Children from 6 years, people in education, people with disabilities and their registered accompanying person, civil & military service personnel Discounts and reductions only upon presentation of a valid ID according to our GTC! ••••• Please note our arrival information on our website.
