The shocking “Opera of Shining” – Theater performance by Theater für die Jugend
What's it about?
The shocking "Opera of Shining" The brilliant but unsuccessful author Lea receives a writing grant from a mysterious foundation. She is to spend the winter with her family in "Eagle's Nest," the historically burdened Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest), built in 1938 under the shadow of Hitler, led by Burmann. Lea sees this as a great opportunity to finally confront her issues with her beloved Germany. For her husband Albert, who had put his professional ambitions aside for Lea's career as a writer, the stay at the Kehlsteinhaus represents the last chance to save their marriage. Greta, Lea's dementia-stricken mother, was taken against her will because there was not enough money to place her in a home. Greta is difficult to handle not only because of her progressive illness but also because she claims to possess the Shining, a clairvoyant gift that allows her to read human thoughts and see things that happened in the past or will happen in the future. As the snow begins to fall, the three are cut off from the outside world, and Burmann, as a revenant, with his brown ghosts of the past, begins to exert increasing influence over the guests of the Kehlsteinhaus. Especially Lea seems to change. Greta and Albert are soon in deadly danger. Everything is heading towards a catastrophe, and as the year draws to a close, a dramatic race against time begins.
