What's it about?
Natural products, handmade items, music, and autumn treats attract visitors to the traditional Gallimarkt in the Old Town of Burghausen. While parents browse among the autumn-decorated stalls offering a variety of mainly sustainable products, children can enjoy pumpkin carving. The retailers of Old and New Town invite visitors to a shopping stroll with a chance to win prizes. The Gallimarkt begins at 11 a.m. with a market walk. The booths, decorated with pumpkins, straw bales, and corn cobs, are set up at the town square and are open until 5 p.m. Highlights for 2026 include ceramics, wreaths, and handmade unique items. This year, new exhibitors enrich the diverse market offerings. Maria Waizmann presents handmade ceramics for everyday use, tables, and home. Olga Kolos's stand features loving handcrafted items, including hand-bound wreaths and self-sewn unique pieces that also make special gift ideas. The selection is complemented by artisans and regional vendors showcasing their self-made products and autumn decorations. Pumpkin carving is a special highlight for young and old. For years, pumpkin carving at the town square has been a special attraction for children and families. Fifty large pumpkins are to be hollowed out and transformed into funny faces to take home. They are supported by the FSJ volunteers of the city of Burghausen. Due to the weather forecast, pumpkin carving will take place in the foyer of the city hall. Culinary delights for every taste include wraps from "Herzenssache," traditional Bosna sausages and Würstl from Wenzl Breu, coffee and cake from Café Leni, and a stand with Turkish specialties, leaving no wish unfulfilled. New this year is "Glut und Gaudi" with oven-fresh pizza straight from the stone oven. Burghausen's restaurateurs also pamper their guests with cozy stops in restaurants and beer gardens. Live music at the town square will be provided by Stefan and Karina. With guitar music and soothing singing, the acoustic duo presents a varied mix of rock, country, and (Austro-)pop.
