SALZBURGER PREMIERE for Thomas Bernhard's 95th Birthday by Cassandra Rühmling

What's it about?

Will the Titanic be raised? Will Immanuel Kant conquer the New World? And what does this have to do with a lantern festival (traditional fair)? On the occasion of the 95th birthday of the great poet Thomas Bernhard, we are showing his grotesque theatrical comedy "Immanuel Kant" in the ambiance of the traditional coffeehouse. Join us on a mental voyage where pure spirit clashes with the zeitgeist of our present. Old values meet new valuations. Like Thomas Bernhard, Immanuel Kant fights against the unwillingness to understand. It is almost frightening how much Bernhard seems to speak directly from his main character. The categorical imperative stands against the categorical subjunctive. If everyone knows that things cannot go on like this, there is only one slogan: Full speed ahead! "The world is what I think of it."
