After two children, between everyday life and unspoken expectations, their relationship has fallen out of balance. But the two do not want to give up their marriage without a fight. So they begin couples therapy - and meet week after week in a pub across the street beforehand. Ten times in ten weeks, they try to prepare for the sessions over a drink - or to preempt them. They talk about progress and setbacks, get lost in shared memories, observe the other guests, and repeatedly get into heated, often surprisingly witty verbal skirmishes. What has long been suppressed gradually resurfaces: hurts, offenses, small misunderstandings, and big questions. But between accusations and irony, something that connects them always flashes through.
