Die Banane - Theater der Mitte
What's it about?
A man (Luis) discovers a hidden gold treasure in the basement of his newly acquired apartment. Overwhelmed by this luck, he quickly makes an impulsive decision: he buys a piece of art created by a monkey, depicting a banana taped to a surface. However, with this purchase, he drags his family into financial and emotional catastrophe: his wife could have used the found treasure to establish herself as an artist, and their daughter could have financed her studies in America. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Luis has actually fallen in love with the artist (the monkey woman), which puts his wife in a difficult position: she gives him an ultimatum—her or the monkey. Desperate, Luis sees only one option: he eats the artwork—the banana—despite being severely allergic to bananas.
