Fridas Welt – eine Hommage an Frida Kahlo in Tanz

What's it about?

"Fridas Welt" is a dance tribute to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, whose life and work were marked by pain, passion, and political engagement. In this revival of the successful piece by Reginaldo Oliveira, Kahlo's unique visual language – her vivid colors and emotional self-portraits – is translated into a powerful choreography. The production combines her physical suffering, inner turmoil, and search for identity with Latin America's optimistic outlook on life. After its premiere in Salzburg in 2024 and further rehearsals in Rio de Janeiro, the piece now captivates an international audience. The stage and costumes reflect Kahlo's artistic style, while the dance performance celebrates hope and joy of life. An introduction to the work takes place 45 and 30 minutes before the performance.
