Masks, Traditional Costumes, Cult Objects – Collecting Folklore?

What's it about?

The "100 Years of the Folklore Museum in the Monatsschlössl" anniversary in 2024 was an occasion to take a contemporary look at objects that were part of the first exhibition in the Monatsschlössl in 1924. Under what aspects were they collected back then? How do we view this folklore collection today? What do we identify with? What has become foreign? Some of the objects shown in the exhibition have been presented as central objects of the collection for 100 years.
