What's it about?

Lysovenko’s painterly "Intervention" in the Ring Gallery of the Salzburg Art Association unfolds as a loop, in which the circular architecture of the Ring Gallery serves as a conceptual and formal framework. At the beginning, cells drift across the surface: blood cells, organelles, fragments of life before any identity. For Lysovenko, this cellular level precedes the questions of citizenship, belonging, or recognition. From the cellular field, the human emerges, but the emergence of the human coincides with the emergence of desire. Gradually, she adds creatures that hover at the edge of readability. Are they human? "Deserve" to live? The question itself is the violence that points to the central theme of this exhibition: dehumanization.
