Caryl Churchill's play "Kopien" (Copies) explores fundamental questions about identity, individuality, and the nature of being human. Based on the absurd premise that multiple genetic duplicates of a person meet, the production examines how biogenetics and artificial intelligence challenge our self-understanding. Without making moral judgments, the play shows how technological developments provoke existential debates about original and copy, human and machine. The production combines current scientific discourses with philosophical reflections and deliberately avoids simple answers.
