A drawbridge made of galvanized steel was created as an artistic intervention in the immediate vicinity of Mauterndorf Castle. This pedestrian bridge is part of a very scenic footpath around the castle. Its special feature are two 4 m long bridge arms that can be operated by a single, smooth-running hand crank via a cable drive; the construction completely dispenses with mechanical drive. The drawbridge spans a tributary of the Taurach and is located on the north side of the castle. The bridge, including the approach structures, has a total length of 24.60 m and a width of 1.30 m. The artist Toni Schmale was the winner of the competition of a total of six entries for artistic designs. Only in good weather
