What's it about?
A musical Christmas journey between palms and Andean peaks: while snow and the scent of fir trees are typical for Christmas in our region, many countries around the world enjoy sunshine during the holiday season. With her program "Christmas in the Sun," Jessie Ann De Angelo takes the audience on a musical trip to places where Christmas sounds different – lively, rhythmic, and full of joy. The journey goes to Mexico, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, the island of Martinique, the Peruvian Andes, and even Hawaii. There, Christmas is not celebrated by the fireplace but on the street, at the beach, or in the mountains – with guitars, drums, and lots of singing. Whether it's Mexican holiday songs in 30 degrees Celsius in the shade, the Caribbean Asalto with surprising musical visits, the traditional Chanté Noël on Martinique, or Christmas melodies from the Andes – everywhere, one thing is central: music, community, and joy. "Christmas in the Sun" combines well-known Christmas melodies with Latin American rhythms and tells stories of traditions that show: Christmas is a celebration of birth, encounter, and emotion – regardless of the climate. An evening full of warmth, rhythm, and musical surprises. This event is expected to take place in the foyer.
