DER GÖTTERGATTE is a rare pearl of the operetta repertoire, a curiosity. With light-footed wit and Lehár's musical esprit, the composer and his librettists here take on Greek mythology. The premiere in 1904 was acclaimed. In search of a spectacular story for a new play, theatre director Mäandros personally approaches Jupiter, father of the gods. Jupiter is quickly convinced - he wants to experience the material for the theatre sensation himself and secretly mixes with mortals with Mercury, only to ultimately be seduced by none other than his own wife Juno. The Lehár Festival brings this delightful gem to the Bad Ischl stage for the first time in a semi-staged production. Look forward to an amusing emotional chaos, framed by Lehár's touching, imaginative compositions.
