What's it about?
Idea and concept: Franz Welser-Möst & Rafael Fingerlos. After the great successes of previous years (2022-2025), the Christmas concert will again be held this year as part of the Hausmusik Roas, which is based on an idea by Franz Welser-Möst. Rafael Fingerlos develops a again a atmospheric program in which authentic folk music meets promising talents of classical music. Well-known Christmas carols are played in new arrangements and merge with classical masterpieces. In the Stadtpfarrkirche St. Nikolaus in Bad Ischl, this concert has a special impact. The historic space, characterized by imperial tradition, spiritual depth, and a rich musical past, provides a dignified setting for this festival of sounds. Between historic architecture, artistic frescoes, and impressive acoustics, a atmospheric place of encounter between folk music and classical music, reflection and festive radiance is created. The concert will again be recorded live in front of an audience and broadcast in the series 'Erlebnis Bühne' on December 25, 2026, as ORF III Christmas concert.
