In pre-Christian times, the Perchten custom played a very significant role. Especially around the winter solstice, it was surrounded by a 'demonic magic'. The evil figures of darkness were to be driven out, and the good and fruitful spirits of spring were to be awakened. The day must triumph over the night to bring fertility to the land. With shouting and clattering chains, the Perchten also cause mischief in the Welser Christmas world. Kaiser-Josef-Platz, 07.12.2025.
