Buchteltag

What's it about?

Buchteln (Czech, Slovak, Silesian buchty), also called Wuchteln, oven noodles, Beinzla or Rohrnudeln (in Bavaria and the Palatinate), are a sweet, filled or unfilled pastry that is baked in the oven. Buchteln are considered a typical dish of Bohemian cuisine; they are also known by other names and are widespread in Austrian, Bavarian, Palatinate, Saxon, Swabian, and Silesian cuisine as well as in Slovenian cuisine. Due to the yeast dough used and the pastry shape, they are closely related to the Dampfnudel and Germknödel, which, however, are prepared in different ways.
