Buchteln (Czech, Slovak, Silesian buchty), also known as Wuchteln, Ofennudeln, Beinzla or Rohrnudeln (in Bavaria and the Palatinate), are a sweet, filled or unfilled pastry baked in the oven. Buchteln are considered a typical dish of Bohemian cuisine; however, they are also common, sometimes with different names, in Austrian, Bavarian, Palatinate, Saxon, Swabian, and Silesian cuisine, as well as in Slovenian cuisine. Due to the yeast dough used and the shape of the pastry, there is a close relationship to Dampfnudel and Germknödel, both of which are cooked in different ways.
