What's it about?

The Kalkalpen National Park is the most important forest national park in the Alps. With its designation as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, it is part of a Europe-wide project for the protection of the last remaining primeval beech forests. These ancient forests with their diversity are a natural treasure. Here, primeval forest species, such as the Alpine longhorn beetle and the white-backed woodpecker, find a home.Difficulty: MediumWe hike from the Zickerreith car park on the Hengstpass to the Dörflmoaralm/Ahornsattel and then follow the forest path a bit downhill into the spring area of the Siebenbrünn.Meeting point: Zickerreith car park on the Hengstpass Time & Duration: 09:00 to 14:00, approx. 5 hours (pure walking time approx. 2.5 hours / 350 vertical meters) Ranger: Claus LackerbauerEquipment: Weatherproof clothing, hiking boots, snack and drink, hiking polesSuitable for: Suitable for children aged 10 and over.Requirements: Guided tours at fixed dates are reserved for private individuals.
