Gschnas is the fourth Voodoo Jürgens album. A new phase Voodoo Jürgens Album. Three years after the masterpiece "Wie die Nocht noch jung wor", he returns as a reluctant pop star. Last year, he won the Austrian Film Award for Best Actor for his leading role in Adrian Goiginger's cinema hit Rickerl. His previous albums earned him numerous Amadeus Awards, i.e., Austro-Grammys, and all his tours throughout the German-speaking world are regularly sold out. Now it was time for another re-evaluation. The pub biotope was yesterday. Precisely because numerous Voodoo epigones have been peddling it for years. Now it's about the wide world out there. And the small one within: the one in one's own soul. In text and sound, Gschnas is about Voodoo's own autonomy, the rebirth of inspiration, breaking free from the typically Austrian narrowness that pulls one down. In short: it's about everything. With what energy he and his on-fire band ride this daring album, with what joy of playing and self-confidence an artist rethinks without giving up what he has discovered, and thereby revitalizes himself.
