What's it about?

A day of blue making at the Zeugfärberei (dyeing workshop). During this workshop, you can create your own indigo print and dye it in the indigo vat. No prior knowledge is necessary; we will go through all the steps together. You can bring your own fabric (natural materials like cotton, linen, hemp, viscose almost always dye well. Be sure to wash it beforehand!) or purchase white fabrics by the meter at the Zeugfärberei (cotton and linen). Colored fabrics can also be over-dyed; in this case, the pattern will not be white but in the fabric's base color. The workshop requires a minimum of 5 participants; up to 10 people can attend. Regular price is 135€, reduced price 90€. Discounts are available for students, pupils, and people with limited funds. Schedule: 10-11 am: Welcome with tea and coffee, brief introduction to blue printing and discussion of options. 11 am-1 pm: Printing 1-2 pm: Lunch break and drying time There are several inns and a shop in the area where you can get a snack. 2-5 pm: Dyeing (sometimes it takes a bit longer) The washed, still damp fabrics can be taken home immediately; a plastic bag is quite handy for this. Please bring rubber gloves and clothing that can get dirty.
