19th Scottish Colours
What's it about?
The 19th Scottish Colours event features Paul McKenna & Robbie Greig (Scotland) and April Verch & Cody Walters (Canada/USA). One of the most significant contemporary singer/songwriters in Scotland is Paul McKenna. No one currently writes songs like him, and with his unmistakable voice and charming stage presence, he has built a large fan base in Central Europe since his first tour through the region in 2009. In 2012, he was awarded 'Scots Singer of the Year'. McKenna impresses with virtuosic compositions and passionate lyrics that are sometimes melancholic, but also serious and socially critical, placing him at the forefront of Scottish folk singers. He is accompanied by Robbie Greig on the violin, who already performed with his band Tannara during our Scottish Colours tour in 2019. The duo April Verch & Cody Walters blend Canadian roots, American Old-time, 50s Country, as well as Scottish and Scandinavian folk. April Verch is one of the best Canadian fiddlers, an excellent singer, and composes beautiful songs. Together with her husband, Cody Walters, an Old-time & Bluegrass multi-instrumentalist from Kansas, they promise to captivate the audience. Advance tickets are available at www.local-buehne.at/tickets for EUR 25/28/31. At the door, prices are EUR +4 / +2 / -1 depending on the ticket type. Ticket prices at the door: 1. Full price; 2. Reduced price (for Ö1, Arbeiterkammer, Kupf members, pupils, students, civil and community service members with valid ID); Local-Bühne members receive EUR 1 back when purchasing in advance at the door.
