17th Repair and 12th Sewing Café

What's it about?

Things, devices and other objects that are no longer fully or not at all functional can, with a bit of luck and skill, be brought back to life under the guidance and with the help of volunteer repair enthusiasts. This contributes to waste reduction and also helps save money that would otherwise be spent on new purchases. Favorite items suitable for a Repair Café can be small furniture, electrical appliances, household appliances, toys and so on, provided they can be carried by one person alone (this is the decisive basic rule). Sharpening smooth-bladed knives (no serrated edge) is also possible. Printers, computers and mobile phones are rather unsuitable for repair at a Repair Café due to expected driver and compatibility issues (for this, relevant specialist companies are available - it may also be possible to claim the device-saver premium, more information on this at https://www.xn--gerte-retter-prmie-ntbm.at).Furthermore, there is also the possibility to repair clothing - in the sense of a Sewing Café. The clothing repair service includes minor darning and sewing work to mend small holes or torn seams and buttons; a joint repair attempt of zippers can also be undertaken with volunteer sewers [NOTE: necessary spare parts, especially zippers, should be brought to the event in the appropriate size, as there is no corresponding spare parts warehouse]. Coffee and cake will be provided for shop talk, personal conversation and exchange of ideas.Participation in the Repair and Sewing Café, which is held under the patronage of the local Catholic Education Center (KBW), is free of charge.
