Based on an outstanding collection of Classical Modernism from Austria – consisting of representative exhibits by artists such as Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka, Kubin, Carl Moll, Egger-Lienz, Eisenschitz, and others – the Schütz Art Museum fosters a discursive dialogue with contemporary art. It is also worth mentioning the nearly unique Artists-In-Residence program in Europe, combined with humanitarian engagement on the African continent, as well as the fact that the building itself – a landmark and solitary structure – is the first Zero-Energy Museum in the world, representing a promise to the future in line with the concept of sustainability.
