What's it about?

In 2020, the Hammerschmiede (hammer mill) was renovated with over 2,800 volunteer hours and additional support from numerous companies and private individuals. The roof and the entire wooden structure had to be renewed. The Hammerschmiede is often chosen as a day-trip destination by school classes and tour groups, where a demonstration of traditional blacksmithing can also be shown. Every first Sunday of the month from 1:00 PM, the 'Hammerschmiedetag' (Hammer Mill Day) with blacksmithing demonstrations takes place. The 'Association for the Renovation and Preservation of the Hammerschmiede St. Agatha' was founded in December 1992. In October 1992, the municipality of St. Agatha purchased the Hammerschmiede in Wiesenparz, and the blacksmithing club renovated it with many volunteers, preserving its original appearance. In 1998, two water wheels were produced and installed in the Hammerschmiede. In autumn 1999, after water law approval, the water supply from the Dittersdorfer and Mühlgraben streams was restored. On September 17, 2000, the renovated Hammerschmiede was officially opened and blessed during a morning gathering.
