International Hartheim Conference - Age(ing). Challenges for Society, Politics and the Individual The 6th International Hartheim Conference, taking place on November 13 and 14, 2026, is dedicated to a highly topical issue that affects us all in many ways - as individuals who age throughout their lives, as well as a society: On an individual level, there is the desire for more healthy years of life, for avoiding and delaying the physical manifestations of age(ing), and also for autonomy. Demographic developments and shifts, on the other hand, pose great challenges for the economy, the world of work, and social security systems. Any resulting consequences for future generations play a major role. In all these areas, the question of the status of older people in our society always arises. This concerns media and societal (leading) images as well as resource allocation in the areas of care, health, and old-age provision. In all these complex topics, critical reflection and discussion are necessary, which do not lose sight of the "value of life." The 6th International Hartheim Conference attempts to address the diverse questions surrounding "age(ing)" and to illuminate and discuss them from different perspectives.
