On Sunday, November 8, 2026, communale oö 2026, together with the participating municipalities, invites to a special hiking performance and tree planting event. 12:00 PM | Start of the hiking performance Meeting point: Familie Sallaberger, Inn 26, 4070 Eferding 2:00 PM | Joint conclusion Emlinger Holz at the Bauernkriegsdenkmal (Peasants' War Memorial) The art project "Lebendige Erinnerung – 400 Bäume für Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit" by Mag. Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer combines regional history, art, and ecological responsibility. The focus is on commemorating the Upper Austrian Peasants' War of 1626 and especially the events around Emlinger Holz. Instead of a purely static monument, a growing memorial space is created: a total of 400 native trees—mainly pedunculate oaks and lindens—are to be planted in the region. They symbolize courage, freedom, solidarity, and responsibility towards future generations. The choice of trees also carries special significance: the pedunculate oak stands for resilience and strength, the linden for peace, community, and protection. At the same time, the trees make a long-term contribution to biodiversity and climate. The hike leads through the historic landscape towards Emlinger Holz and combines music, language, movement, moments of silence, and collective planting. This aims to make history not only told but experienced in a special way. The regional project is supported by the municipalities of Alkoven, Eferding, Fraham, Hinzenbach, Pupping, and Wilhering. The event takes place in all weather. Participation is free of charge. Good footwear and weatherproof clothing are recommended.
