Salzburger Advent 2026 – Staad wird‘s
What's it about?
What began in 1991 as an unassuming event with just under 400 visitors in the Salzburg Kollegienkirche has developed into a cultural event of high musical and artistic quality. The "Salzburger Advent®" has reshaped the face of Advent singing in Salzburg with its distinctive content, authenticity, and independence. More than 300,000 visitors in Salzburg, Munich, Vienna, and Linz attest to this. We sincerely thank our ensemble and especially our loyal audience for that! By combining traditional songs with reinterpretations of authentic Advent folk music, a very special mix has developed that deeply touches visitors year after year. The Advent season has something magical, indeed wonderful. To enhance these feelings and prepare for the most beautiful festival of the year, the Salzburger Advent has made it its heartfelt mission. An extensive collection of compositions, stories, and plays testifies to the creativity and productivity of all participants. The musical highlights, the most beautiful texts and stories, and a contemplative theater piece form a festive staging. Deeply rooted in tradition, nurtured and cared for with heart and feeling, E.W. Holzmann has been staging the original "Salzburger Advent" for over 30 years. Over a hundred artists, musicians, and actors bring songs, melodies, stories, and poems—mostly original, some adapted from old masters. Around the central theater piece, performed by talented child and adult actors of the "Salzburger Advent," the various ensembles with their musical pieces, songs, and texts come together for a touching Advent singing. With the new program, we aim to once again prepare you for the reflective Advent season and the upcoming Christmas celebration! Participants include: Viergspann, Reiterer Vocal Ensemble, Die Rauchkuchlmusi, Pongauer Stub'n Musi, Salzburger Adventconsort, Salzburger Gitarrentrio, Bläserensemble "Mirabell", LandesChor Hohensalzburg, Theaterensemble of Salzburger Advent.
