What's it about?

A guided tour of the large painted windows in the Mariendom Linz. Be impressed by the over 40 large painted windows in the Mariendom! These windows depict not only religious scenes but also tell the history of the cathedral's construction, as well as the origin stories and legends of many Upper Austrian communities and parishes. Unique in this ensemble is the wonderful coloration of the tower rose window, which is hidden behind the large Rudigier organ and can be reached via the inner gallery at about 14 meters height. View the impressive painted windows of the inner gallery up close and receive explanations about the creation of these artworks and the painting techniques used. The windows in the nave and transept were created by the Tiroler Glasmalereianstalt. The windows of the tower chapels were designed by the Rauhkamp studio. Designs by artist Karl Martin Hartmann replace the windows in the chapel ring that were destroyed in the war. Please note: The number of participants is limited. The meeting point for the tour is the DomCenter, located directly at the Domplatz.
