Romeo loves Juliet – but their love is doomed to fail from the start. The two are children of two feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets, whose hatred poisons an entire community. In the midst of this feud, a priest dares a bold attempt: he secretly marries Romeo and Juliet, hoping that their union might reconcile the quarrelsome clans. But his plan ends tragically. Although Romeo initially resists the provocations of Tybalt, Juliet's hot-headed cousin, Mercutio, his closest friend, cannot understand the newfound peacefulness. He accepts Tybalt's challenge, is fatally wounded in the fight, and Romeo avenges him. From that moment, love and violence spiral uncontrollably into tragedy. Stage director David Bösch returns to one of his favorite Shakespearean works with Romeo and Juliet after Much Ado About Nothing – a great love drama about youthful passion, blind rage, and the destructive power of inherited enmities.
