What's it about?

B.A.S.I.C.A. is a space for encounter, learning, and experimentation through the musical and cultural traditions of Hispano-America. Through practical workshops, we will explore different forms of expression present in our cultures: voice, guitar, body percussion, batucada (traditional Brazilian drum ensemble), zapateado, son, cumbia, and ensemble music. No prior experience or musical knowledge is required. The idea is to learn by doing: singing, playing, moving, creating rhythms, improvising, and discovering how different instruments and people can create music together. Each meeting combines various workshops and moments of socializing. Among the activities, there will be a space to enjoy Latin American food, creating a relaxed environment where music, cuisine, and cultural exchange are part of the same experience. Come with curiosity, with your voice, your instrument, or simply with the desire to participate. Agenda of the day: 16:00-17:30 Body percussion / Body Percussion We will study the symbolism to organize the durations of a musical idea and create rhythms using our body as a percussion instrument. 17:30-18:30 Food and socializing time 18:30-20:00 Introduction to batucada / Einführung in die Batucada We will learn about different percussion instruments and create rhythms by ensemble, supporting ourselves with elements of Afro-Latin batucada, such as call and response roles and improvisation.
