Stationenweg für Kinder am Friedhof: Leben und Tod auf der Spur

Stationenweg für Kinder am Friedhof: Leben und Tod auf der Spur

Sunday 25 October · 07:00St. Barbara Friedhof · oberoesterreich

What's it about?

Children are invited to a special experience at the St. Barbara Cemetery: Several stations offer children the opportunity to engage with the topic of death in an age-appropriate way. Around the elements earth – fire – water – air, activities include crafting, painting, exploring nature, and photography. Each child receives their own candle and a feather. The candle is personalized, and the feather becomes part of angel wings. They also learn how to comfort people who are sad. The interactive stations are suitable for children in kindergarten and primary school. The station trail through the cemetery is self-explanatory and can be visited by families with children individually or together in groups. A cooperation with Dobretsberger Funeral Services. Start at the main entrance near the porter. Free of charge. No registration necessary. About grief in children It is important for children to develop their own memory and mourning culture. Childhood experiences of saying goodbye and grief are formative for life. Death is a part of life. It belongs to life. Children need someone to talk to about death – and not only when close relatives pass away. The death of a pet and reports in the media can also prompt children to want to learn more about the topic of death. Children have a different understanding of death than adults; they have their own ideas about the afterlife and intuitively sense that a cemetery is a special place.
