What's it about?

Dialect music Matthias Kempf is one of the great unknowns of the Austrian music scene. Of course, he is not entirely unknown, and like his colleagues Andy Baum and Ulli Bäer – with whom he forms a quite popular trio – he is counted among the A-list of musicians active in this country by connoisseurs of the subject. At least, as far as the qualities of his work are concerned. There is a need to catch up on quantity: Kempf's last album release was many years ago. In 2026, however, one can speak and write of a memorable return, and already in November 2025, a first harbinger was sent out: the single "nur vor an koidn herz". It is a concentrate of the emotions that accompany Kempf's return – and it comes just in time, like a message in a bottle "in so ana zeit" (as the new album is called). The burden of proof now passes to alert ears and eyewitnesses, i.e. to all of us. In the trio line-up, the songs gain a special intensity and intimacy that perfectly exposes the core of his dialect music. Kempf is (and this is especially true for his concerts) not an express train in one direction, but a meeting place: sometimes a waiting room for thoughts, sometimes a train to the absurd – and always a place where you like to stay a little longer...
