Over the course of a lifetime, a person falls ill multiple times with various diseases and diverse symptoms. Some illnesses are more severe than others, some are cured, others recur repeatedly or accompany the person for a very long time. Some illnesses draw attention through severe pain, others have only minor symptoms. One gets used to some chronic diseases, while other symptoms are perceived as bothersome. The diseases and symptoms are as diverse as people themselves. What if behind every illness there was a cause that drew attention with symptoms?A symptom is a "sign", meaning the body, mind, and subconscious want to "show" us something. We have only forgotten how to understand these signs. In a systemic symptom constellation, the hidden causes and reasons for an illness can reveal themselves.Systemic constellation does not view illness or symptomatology as a disorder, but rather as an attempt at a solution in the sense of an expression of interpersonal interaction.People and their problems are viewed in broader contexts, in families and larger systems, and across multiple generations.A systemic constellation moves away from the need to recognize causes and their effects, and instead focuses on the patient's own inherent potential to initiate healing changes.Systemic constellations can support medical treatment (but not replace it), especially if it has not been successful so far.The view of familial, intergenerational backgrounds can be an important building block in a holistic treatment concept. It opens up new avenues for the doctor or therapist and can activate self-healing resources.
