He spent his childhood "virtuosically" on the family's Hafner-Alm and was practically forced into live sessions due to his musical talent. The "Lieblingsdepp" (favorite idiot) from Tegernsee completed his apprenticeship - after sufficient schnitzel-pounding experience and a shortened boarding school trip - at 16 as a cook in Mallorca.
